Mardi Gras Mask

First, here's a free patttern for ya!

Mardi Gras Mask (link is a Ravelry download).

(Details:

Yarn: about 50 yards of worsted weight yarn. Plus 10 yards or so of fun fur type yarn.

Needles: US3 or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 5.5 sts/inch.)

The boys are still sick, but not as bad as last week. Mostly just runny and stuffy noses now. My 2.5yo can not blow his nose yet, which makes for some very interesting moments, let me tell you. Yuck!

I finished a couple of things recently:

A pair of socks for DS#1, since he outgrew his other pair:

My own design, based on Cat Bordhi's Sky Architecture. I may write this pattern up, if I can upsize it for adult feet! :-) I did lots of ribbing in the hopes that they fit him for a lot longer than his other pair did - plus I made them about a half an inch longer than his feet are now.

And here's an itty bitty sock on an itty bitty sock blocker:

Now I want more of these!!!

And I got my Malabrigo Lace the other day from The Loopy Ewe.

I've started a lace stole with it, the Juno Regina from Knitty. I've never knit with Malabrigo before, but I've touched a finished object made with it prior to this. OMG, what a soft yarn to work with - I cannot wait until their sock yarn is available!!!!!!

Having sick kids sucks.

So both DS's are sick this week. Ds#2 woke up Friday morning with a 102.5 fever. He couldn't keep any liquids or medicine down all day. Needless to say, it's been miserable here for the last few days. DS#1 now has it as well. They're both keeping food and medicine down now, though, so at least I can (try to!) keep their temperatures down! It's not the flu - the doctor tested for that - but some other nasty virus. Anyways, that's what's been going on here! And it sucks!!

On a whim I knitted up some Fetching fingerless handmitts. Our house was so cold, I decided I wanted something to keep my hands warm while knitting. Here they are completed:

I had them done in 2 days. How's that for a fast knit! And DS#2 decided that they were some legwarmers for him when I wasn't looking! :-)

What do you think, is this a boy who does not feel well or what? :-(

Oh well. Hopefully they'll be all better soon!

Just finished these yesterday!



These are Cookie A.'s Monkeys knitted with Maui Yarn's Bamboo/Merino blend in the color 'Tidal Pool'. They're so yummy! Soft on my feetsies. :-)


I finished a couple of my Master Knitter Swatches.

I have my Swatch #5 and 6 done as well, but no photos yet. I think 6 is OK, but the selvedge on 5 seems a little wonky, so I'm thinking I'll knit that one over again.


I just got some Alpaca roving at the Alpaca show over the weekend - a soft green/brown mix.

My Mom loves her Tunic, btw! I don't have a photo of her in it yet, but she says it fits - yipee!

I'm in the middle of spinning some yummy purple Corridale roving. I have some Dark Grey Black Diamond Bamboo roving that I'm going to spin and ply with it. I'm spinning the Corridale very thin so I can do a three ply with two plys of it and one ply of the bamboo - and hopefully still end up with a fingering weight yarn. I want to make socks from this stuff!!

I started a hat for DS#1 with my other handspun - I'll have pics later.

Still working on my Monkeys - now that I finished the Mystery Socks I can get busy on my Hawaiian Monkeys! (Hawaiian because the yarn came from MauiYarns in Hawaii!! :-)) Here's the progress on those so far (sorry the light is horrible!):
